It has three screw holes. The centre of the top hole is 1/4" (6.35 mm) away from the top. The centre of the bottom hole is 1/4" away from the bottom. The middle hole is at mid-distance. If you make your strips yourself, you can skip the middle hole, as it's very rarely used and it will save you one third of the work. The vertical dimensions are the most critical of all, especially if you have tall units. Horizontal dimensions------------------------------------------------ The total width is of course 19" (482.6 mm). The screw holes should be 18"3/8 (466.725 mm) apart. This dimension is not critical because the holes on the gear are oval, so you have quite a bit of leeway. I'm not sure what the clearance between the strips is supposed to be. My racks have 449 mm. One industrial rack I've seen has 455 mm. The largest unit I've seen is 443 mm wide. I'm guessing that the official figure *might* be 17"3/4 (450.85 mm). Depth---------------------------------------------------------------- If there is any real standard on depth, I don't know what it is. Industrial cases are quite deep (like 740 mm), and have a second strip in the back. Audio gear is rarely, if ever, that deep. My racks are 350 mm deep and that's just deep enough for the deepest unit I have (including the connectors). If I make new cases, I'll probably make them a couple inches deeper, to be on the safe side. Screw holes---------------------------------------------------------- Immaterial, as long as it fits the holes in the units' ears. I used 5 mm screws, but 6 mm screws seem to be more common. Not sure what is used in non-metric countries. |---| |---| <-- 0" (0 mm) | O | | O | <-- 1/4" (6.35 mm) | | | | | O | | O | <-- 7/8" (22.225 mm) | | | | | O | | O | <-- 1"1/2 (38.1 mm) |---| |---| <-- 1"3/4 (44.45 mm) : : : > 443 mm (= 17"3/4 ?) : : : : : :<------------------------------------>: : : : : : : : : 18"3/8 (466.725 mm) : : : :<---------------------------------------->: : : : : 19" (482.6 mm) : :<-------------------------------------------->: 1" = 25.4 mm.
